Independence – Rudolph Nichols, 75 of Rt 4, Attica, Independence, died at 5:03 p.m. Tuesday in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Hobart, following surgery.  Born Aug 13, 1909 in Covington he was educated in Gary and lived there before moving to Independence 12 years ago.  He was married Nov 26, 1934 in Williamsport to Frances Solomon. She died May 19.  A retired macinist, he formerly worked at Harbeson-Walker Brick Co. in East Chicago.  Surviving are a son, George Rudolph Nichols of Valparaiso; six daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Chisco; Mrs. Pricilla DuFord and Mrs. Penny Barber all of Westville; Mrs. Fontella Mead of Detroit, Mich; Mrs. Roberta Korfias of Dyer and Mrs. Charlotte Gianetti of Richton Park, Ill.  Also four brothers, Gordon Cox of Joliet, Ill; Russell Cox of Rob Roy; Ronald Cox of Gary and Richard Cox of Wiesbaden, Germany.

Nichols, Rudolph – Friends will be received at Maus Funeral Home, Attica 5-9 p.m. today. Service in Maus Chapel 11 a.m. Friday, Rev. Jack Thompson officiating. Surviving are 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren
